Job Description

As the Surgical Data Annotation amp; Workflow Manager, you will be a cornerstone of our organisation’s machine learning goals - You will bring strong clinical experience to lead our diverse team of Surgical Data Annotators, to ensure they are delivering on internal and external annotation targets. You will also collaborate with our Engineering and Product functions to make improvements to our annotation tooling to improve productivity and accuracy across the team. This person will also be pivotal to driving a culture of quality and inclusivity within the annotation function.

Here’s what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff!):

  • Recruit and develop new members of the Surgical Data Annotation team
  • Manage and support a diverse team of surgical annotators
  • Work closely with the Data Operations Manager and Head of Medical Affairs to identify workflow efficiency improvements in the day-to-day running of the team
  • Partner with machine learning engineers, data scientists, and medical liaisons to help develop machine learning/deep learning/conventional imaging processing algorithms
  • Plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate all training initiatives to develop the team, working in collaboration across the Medical Affairs function
  • Act as an internal subject-matter expert to develop and improve our annotation guidelines
  • Annotate video or frame data assigned to you within established time frames
  • Be able to explain surgical steps /procedures/terminology to others from a non-healthcare background in a non-complex way

Digital Surgery is a data-driven company implementing cutting-edge AI technology, computer vision, and augmented reality to the operating room (OR) and surgical training. Our goal is to deliver safer surgery around the world. The DS1 is our first OR device, allowing surgeons, OR team members, and trainees to securely access videos of their procedures shortly after surgery.

The device uses advanced AI algorithms that enable automatic processing and uploading of videos. Our surgical training platform is the award-winning Touch Surgery application that provides safe and accessible training for surgeons and other health care professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Relevant experience doing a similar role
  • Broad management knowledge and experience to lead a remote team
  • People leadership experience
  • Clinical background/ operating room/ bedside experience

Nice to Have: Preferred Requirements

  • Medical Affairs/Clinical Research experience within a medical device industry
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications: Excel, PowerPoint and Word, Project (or similar scheduling software), project management techniques and tools; and web-based applications
  • Excellent project management and organization skills
  • Ability to identify and implement solutions in addressing clinical education process issues
  • Interest in cloud-based technologies
