Job Description

The category leader (Sales Manager) of the Consumable, Petfood and Human medical division is accountable for managing the field sales and internal sales team responsible for activities to Veterinary Practices relating to this team. This is a commercial role requiring leadership, people management, commercial knowledge, and strategic planning. Leading by fostering a team culture and ensuring their ongoing professional development to effectively carry out the team’s roles. Managing key goals and objectives of the team through engagement, motivation, and performance management.


Role and Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a team of 9 people nationally, ensure reporting compliance via salesforce and maintain weekly reporting from the team. Ultimately accountable for the performance (Both financial and operational) of the consumable team. Coach the team- striving for excellence and best practice
  • Focus on key activities to achieve goals as directed by the Sales Director that create business value through idea generation and problem solving.
  • Work across internal departments and businesses to develop the Covetrus consumable team strategy and ensure goals and objectives are met. Work to facilitate actions required to support the sales team and hold monthly status meetings to ensure smooth transactions both internally and externally. Anticipate requirements from internal departments and work collaboratively and constructively to ensure these are achieved in a timely manner to deliver required business performance.
  • Plan, organize and implement effective strategies using all company programs, tools, and initiatives to increase market share.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to customer concerns, follow up actions to assure customer issues / opportunities are communicated to appropriate Covetrus Animal Health departments, providing the very best service levels to customers creating ongoing relationships.
  • Manage time and overall sales plan effectively and profitably. With the support of the sales Director, translate Covetrus yearly financial objectives into category commercial plans. Manage category budgets and business plans appropriately to achieve required performance results.
  • Attend various animal health meetings / seminars and participate in all training programs as instructed by the Sales Director
  • Maintain communication with Sales Director on a timely basis participating in all sales meetings as requested.
  • Cross functional working with key internal stakeholders including board members, customer services, sales, operations, finance, procurement, and marketing and influence positive change.
  • Accountable for adherence to Covetrus Animal health company policies and procedures.
  • Work in a professional and harmonious manner and cooperate with all Covetrus personnel in the execution of all company programs in a positive demeaner.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.

Please note this is a remote based role and you will need a full UK Driving Licence.

Experience:

Sales and or Animal Health / Veterinary Sales experience advantageous but not essentials. Sales management with a proven track record of success.

Education:

University Degree / Animal Health Qualification or previous animal health sales success advantageous but not essential.
