The team and roleThis is an exciting opportunity for a Cost amp; Efficiency Finance Business Partner to join Bulb's Finance Planning amp; Analysis team, at the strategic heart of one of Europe’s fastest-growing companies.
At Bulb, FPamp;A is not just budgeting and reporting, it's also strategy. We are looking for someone who can build accurate, thoughtful forecasts, but also questions what we should be building and why. We need someone who can communicate with stakeholders around the business to diagnose problems, then use their analytical skills to solve them.
Cost control is a hugely important part of Bulb’s success: as part of Bulb’s mission is to help lower bills. You’ll be responsible for helping Bulb control costs, and you’ll have regular exposure to the leadership team from Day 1.
Key responsibilities*Be the Finance lead for Bulb’s ongoing cost programme, working cross-functionally with stakeholders around the business including the Senior Leadership Team to provide financial insight to drive inefficiency and manage costs down. Validate all cost savings in the business. *Build and own detailed cost variance analysis; use this analysis to challenge forecasts and give us early visibility when we go off track so we can react *Segment our cost actuals for product level analysis, working with our Cost Data Analyst to leverage inputs from our data warehouse to allocate actuals in our finance system *Partner members of the business on complex cost forecasts such as our service team capacity planning, support them and their teams to make good plans and forecasts. This will include being the primary business partner to our UK Managing Director. *Question forecasted costs and highlight risks and opportunities - we need someone strategic who asks the right questions to keep Bulb performing *Continually improve our forecasting methodologies and process *Work with our Financial Planning Manager to run Bulb’s annual cost budgeting process and quarterly refreshes, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team
Must have skills*Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)*Extremely data literate - you need to be comfortable interpreting figures across multiple systems including data warehouses, and working to create structure in how costs are presented and analysed between different systems*Strong critical thinking and attention to detail *Great project management skills - you need to be able to work with stakeholders at all levels of the business to get their forecasts on time and make sure they align with each other *Strong communication skills and confident working with stakeholders across the business including CEO and senior leadership *Team player: you see your work as part of the team’s overall plan, and within that you’re happy either driving your own project or supporting team members with theirs *Ownership mentality: don't just execute what's asked of you, but question whether we've asked you the right question or if it could be done a better way *Can-do attitude: Bulb is a fast-paced environment, you need to be resilient and calm under pressure *Interest in improving processes and implementing systems
