Job Description

A bit about Wonderbly

Wonderbly is a unique, award winning startup that designs, sells, prints and ships super high quality personalised books for children. Our books are designed to instill a sense of boundless self-belief in the children that read them. This year we became Children's Publisher of the Year.

We’re a dynamic, creative, and commercially-driven business with a big and bold mission - to bring people closer together through the power of personalisation. Our legacy is in the children's space. For the past seven years we’ve created uncompromisingly high-quality personalised books to inspire courage, curiosity and kindness in children all over the world. In the past year we have started to diversify our meaningfully personalised books beyond children and into broader ages, relationships and gifting occasions.

In so many ways, our journey is just beginning. Having established ourselves as leaders in the children's space, we are building a global personal-publishing business that brings the power of meaningful personalisation into the hearts and homes of everyone in the world.

Wonderbly is looking for a wonderful Danish book editor, who can ensure the highest standard content for our Danish market.

What you’ll be doing:

It’s the book editor’s job to work directly with the book translator to edit/proof-read their content. The proofing is to ensure that there are no errors in the copy but also to feedback on the quality and content of what is written.

Whilst our translators generally retain the final call on what is written, our editors offer support in ideas on how to improve the copy and ensure that it is suitable for the audience in that particular market. We expect our book translators and editors to work in quite a collaborative way but are flexible in what this means for each language team.

The translation project will run for about 4 weeks from mid-August, so the editor would need to be on hand for guidance during this time, however the most important stage for the editor to be involved is during the QA stage.

This is a great chance to work on humorous, lively and all-round-fun copy for a company that is dedicated to making children kinder, more clever and curious!

Requirements

Hopefully you’ll have some or all of the following:

  • A proven history of experience in the specified language and market
  • Excellent writing skills in Danish language
  • Experience in book editing/proof-reading
  • Flexibility with part-time work and able to work remotely (so a good internet connection is essential)
  • A good team worker and happy to communicate mostly via email and occasional video calls.

Huge bonus points for:

  • Experience writing or editing content for the children’s gift/book market an advantage
  • Whilst not necessary, an understanding of what our target audience are looking for - potentially a parent, aunt/uncle, grandparent!

Benefits

Equal opportunities employer

Our team are committed to providing equal opportunities for employment regardless of of race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, disability, family structure, socio-economic status, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other basis (it's the law, but it's also just the right thing to do).
