About the Role
As the Head of Product Design and UX, you will be responsible for the user experience of our portfolio, ensuring that Visionable products are renowned for market-leading design and user experiences.
You will be a design leader, owning the vision, setting the strategy, and running the product design function, working with both our internal teams and our customers and users to ensure our products stand apart from the competition through your passion for user-centric design and experience in software development businesses and applications.
This is a cross-functional leadership role, working with the wider product team, sales, marketing, development and operations to ensure we build and deliver a unified portfolio of exceptional products that delight our customers in both our current and future markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Product Design function within the wider product team, working as part of the product leadership team to ensure our portfolio and roadmaps
- Lead design projects throughout the entire design cycle, from the UX/UI design to the development phase in product workstreams
- Lead the unification of the user experience for our portfolio across web, desktop and mobile devices.
- Actively prioritise product design backlog and coordinate planning with Product Managers and Designers
- Drive UI/UX best practices across the organisation, including accessibility and usability
- Foster a collaborative relationship between business product managers and the UI/UX team, ensure productive engagements between the two teams.
- Work with product managers and product owners to ensure that UX deliverables are well defined and understood in the overall project scope.
- Collaborate and communicate with the rest of the product leadership team; help develop processes to ensure orderly, predictable execution of deliverables.
- Lead our UX research team to gather user needs/feedback through research methods such as observations, interviews, and usability testing, and translate these findings into design solutions and refinements
- Partner with engineers and product owners to provide value through designing the interactions, interface, and functionality of our products as part of our agile product development process
- Educate the team and stakeholders across the business about the importance of design thinking and the importance of user research
- Keep up-to-date on design trends and make design processes and UX/UI improvements
- Maintain and develop brand guidelines to ensure consistency of the brand across our products and marketing activities
Requirements
- Track record in leading and developing a design team and nurturing and developing designers
- Strong proven experience of hands-on experience of Product Design for a SaaS application, including visual design as well as user research and prototyping
- A demonstrable track record of creating great usable products and of design leadership.
- Creative and strategic thinker able to develop innovative solutions to problems and leading-edge design
- Key influencer across the internal organisation and external customers and markets
- Engaging presentation style and solid writing and visual communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- years of experience on UX/UI or product design and developing flows and wireframes,
- 5+ years of product UX/UI design experience
- Leadership experience in product design / UX teams.
- Strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques, design systems, mobile, web and desktop design and unification.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Invision etc
- Experience of working in cross-functional teams liaising directly with product owners and software engineers
