Job Description

As Vivino grows, we are building new functions at a European level to support growth across each of our 11 e-commerce markets. Range Planning sits at the very start of our buying process, providing our Buying Directors and Country Managers with the best possible insight. This role looks forward by using the power of Vivino’s data to identify the wines and wine styles demanded by users and backward by reviewing purchased wines and making data-led recommendations for future buying decisions.

Generate data insight, review performance, and participate in range reviews

As a Range Planning Analyst, you will be responsible for generating insight from Vivino’s demand data and participating in European range reviews. In particular, you will be using search, scan, and pageview data to identify wines and styles that are highly rated, popular, and/or rising in popularity. Furthermore, you will be working alongside the Head of Sourcing, Europe, to review the current Vivino range on a category-by-category basis and on specific ad-hoc wine category deep dives.

In addition to the above, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Evaluate prospective wines against current wines from a data perspective and make recommendations
  • Support Head of Sourcing, Europe, and Country Managers with ad-hoc demand queries
  • Gather and interpret relevant demand and commercial data to support decision making
  • Evaluate the performance of new additions to the range after a set period of time against benchmarks (including promotional events such as Black Friday)
  • Make recommendations as to Vivino’s future buying strategy (rebuy vs. delist) for that particular wine
  • Scope out improvements to the tools, including soliciting feedback from users
  • Work alongside Global and European business intelligence analysts to implement these improvements
  • Match potential retail partners’ range data to the Vivino database and make data-led recommendations for wines to feature

Collaborative team player who is led by data, a curious mindset, and a passion for wine

The ideal candidate has a strong passion for wine and can utilize this interest to provide insightful recommendations and interpretations of data. Furthermore, we are looking for someone with great collaboration and interpersonal skills who is capable of adjusting to the circumstances and collaborating across different time zones, languages and business cultures.

Adding to the description above, we envision that you have and can demonstrate:

  • Experience working with large datasets in Excel
  • A solid understanding of wine, acquired from either professional or personal experience
  • Capability to provide concise and impactful written and verbal communication

Further, we consider it an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have:

  • Experience in retail buying, merchandising, or range planning
  • Looker / Tableau / SQL experience
  • Fluent French, Spanish or Italian language capabilities
  • WSET qualification (or equivalent) is preferred but not required
