Job Description

Corin is seeking a Manufacturing Team Leader to organise and effectively communicate with their dedicated shift team activities involved with the CNC manufacture of orthopaedic implants and instrumentation. You will always ensure that your team works in accordance with our design and quality specifications and Company policy and requirements. The key result areas of the role will be to; ensure delivery of planned manufacturing throughput maintaining product quality across all areas. Lead, manage and drive your teams’ performance to meet / exceed machine utilisation and efficiency targets and meet all operational targets set.

The key responsibilities for the Manufacturing Team Leader are to:

  • Provide clear and visible leadership to all team members in respect of adherence to quality procedures and throughput plans.
  • Be involved in relevant investigations to identify and correct root causes of quality related concerns.
  • Work closely with the relevant Machining Manager to ensure all the team are working in the most effective way to maximise productivity.
  • Manage, motivate and co-ordinate your team effectively through daily team communication on production and business information, appraisals, sickness and disciplinary matters.
  • Constantly seek improved methods of operation and efficiency, present to the relevant Machining Manager in a structured, tangible manner.
  • Investigate exceptional issues of non-conformance or trending, repeatable issues to root cause using 8D methodology and report to your Machining Manager.
  • Provide / organise training that supports improvement activities.
  • Ensure all products are manufactured to the appropriate specification and quality standard.
  • Ensure compliance with all documented procedures and that legible, accurate and full completion of records are maintained at all times.
  • Verify clear segregation of accepted and non-conforming products.
  • Ensure there is sufficient skills and resource to support the plan.
  • Ensure that the current as well as the next planned jobs are always prepared and immediately ready for operators to start the job in accordance to the planned sequence.
  • Release / request people in line with the plan and report against adherence to the plan and actions being taken to recover any shortcomings against plan.
  • Ensure there is a clear structure during handover to minimise downtime and maximise output.
  • Ensure all issues affecting adherence to plan are fully understood, captured and discussed between shifts and available daily for Operations Manager to review.
  • Make decisions about manning that ensure the appropriate resource is allocated to each area to execute the plan.
  • Capture and escalate any safety, technical or people issues that will prevent execution of the shift plan.
  • Check the colour coding of work in the cell every shift i.e. re-processing work takes priority.
  • Maintain symphony notes in prescribed formats.
  • Consumables (recommendations about what is required).
  • Organise workplace i.e. 5S is to be owned by the Manufacturing Team Leader and reported as required.
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to Company and legislative requirements for Health amp; Safety.
  • Ensure all equipment is in safe working order prior to team members commencing work.


Requirements

The ideal Manufacturing Team Leader will have a;

  • Good technical ability within an engineering / medical manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering qualification so you can demonstrate a good understanding of engineering drawings and their interpretation with regards to appropriate methods.
  • Hands on experience of setting and operating CNC machines (highly advantageous).
  • Demonstratable skill in people management and the ability to communicate and delegate effectively as well as lead teams to deliver tangible improvements.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with other departments and members of the management team.
  • Flexible working attitude.
