On completion of the 12 month graduate programme (or sooner), you’ll move into a role in the department and continue your Future career journey.

The Commercial Finance Graduate role provides a unique opportunity to experience multiple areas of Commercial Finance within a fast-paced, growing, FTSE 250 Media company.

This role will report into one of the Commercial Finance Managers based on the graduates’ skill set and role preference and availability.

The role will work hand in hand with different areas of the business and help to provide commercially relevant information that will support decision making. At times, a graduate will help to improve and develop reporting and modelling tools as well as getting involved with relevant project work.

Requirements

Key Accountabilities

Understanding and reporting

Support the preparation of robust management information and analysis, consisting of both Financial and Non-Financial metrics to the business and report key variances.

Assist in setting up reporting and measurement frameworks for new business areas

Working with the commercial finance managers and business leaders, to provide data and insight to drive operational performance and improve profitability

Support the month end process, reviewing outputs and delivering commentaries

that provide insight into business performance

Review management accounting or reporting processes and support process improvement as required

Deliver appropriate reporting/analysis to the business as required

Reconciliation and posting of journals ranging from revenue to overheads or costs of sales during the month end process

Forecasting and planning

Support the commercial finance managers during the annual budget and reforecast process for the business owner; drive the development of local operational plans that support the financial expectations. Build models to support budgeting and forecasting. Ensure that the business is accountable for the plans.

Insight to drive opportunities and limit risks

Assist in the maintenance of rolling forecasts supported by immediate threats and opportunities. Use these to support the month end close.

Technical Capabilities

An interest in the media business

Accounting amp; Finance graduate or similar degree

Are keen to start studying for an accounting qualification

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Ability to quickly absorb and apply new information

Proactive approach to work

An enquiring mind with strong analysis and numerical ability

Effective prioritisation of workloads and initiatives to deliver results in a timely and relevant manner

Strong G Suite and MS Office skills including Excel (including pivot tables, macro and vlookups), Word and Powerpoint skills

Able to be both a team player and able to work unaided using own initiative Able to present ideas clearly, simply and confidently

Able to work in an environment that changes at pace

Able to problem solve and use initiative to improve
