Job Description

We are looking to build a team of fully remote Platform Engineers with a DevOps background to support an ambitious tech transformation migrating our application stack from Linux virtual machines to cloud-native, containerized Kubernetes applications running on every public cloud including Azure, AWS, GCP and many more.

Your long-term role as Platform Engineer is to provide our Software Engineers with all the shared CI/CD tooling and expertise they need to rapidly build and deploy production-ready applications in a fully autonomous fashion with minimal friction. We want to build the capability for autonomous software engineering teams to deploy in a day with fully automated quality testing and staged deployments.

In the short-term you will be writing Ansible playbooks to automate deployment and upgrade of our existing application stack. You will also be performing deployments and upgrades of our current application stack until the process becomes fully automated.

The Platform Engineer role offers great career growth within the wider Platform group, with options to grow into a senior Platform Engineer role with Kubernetes experience across multiple public clouds, or to move into a more specialized role in infrastructure, security or platform reliability.

Requirements

You will be:

• Building close working relationships Software Engineering

• Expanding the capabilities of our CI/CD tooling

• Automating application deployments using Ansible

• Implementing configuration management with Helm 2

• Building infrastructure-as-code with Terraform across Azure, AWS, GCP amp; others

• Performing application upgrades and data migrations


You will have:

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

• Burning desire to learn and grow your technical expertise and drive change

• Foundational Linux systems administration in Ubuntu, Red Hat or similar

• Experience creating and supporting Ansible playbooks

• Scripting ability in Python, Bash or similar

• Experience with Marathon container orchestration is a big plus but not mandatory

• Experience of Kubernetes, either cloud or on-prem, is a plus

• Background in software engineering (Java/Javascript) is helpful but not essential
