With Kano progressing to the next phase of our development as a company, we are looking to hire a Senior SDET to join the team. This role will take responsibility, with the Manual QA team, for taking the product from design idea to finished and completely checked. We expect to supplement our team with external contractors and this role will have responsibility for validating their work.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to work on different technologies, across different teams and even with real users. This person should be a hungry, ingenious engineer with a solid track record and a keen eye for catching and investigating bugs. They should also have a completionist mindset, able to think through all the cases that need to be tested.
You’ll be working on new designs for Kano’s range of microprocessor-based consumer electronics Hardware . You’ll take the design from the first concept through prototyping and software development to production in China (You will probably find yourself in Shenzhen a couple of times a year) with quality being the main focus in each step. Along the way you’ll probably find yourself working with Product Designers, Embedded Developers and Electronic Engineers.
Requirements
The role will among other things involve writing automated tests, documentation, testing our physical devices and helping with the release cycles. As part of an Agile team, you will have the chance to work in very fast iterations, making your work very dynamic and challenging. We are looking for an SDET who has no problems getting their hands dirty with new technology and challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Ideal candidates will have at least four years of SDET in a commercial environment.
- Experienced in setting up and using automated testing tools and frameworks to test hardware and software (command-line based and GUI applications)
- Experienced in testing IoT and/or embedded systems, including the design and use of test rigs (with support from hardware engineers)
- Able to write test scripts in C/ C++, plus Javascript or Python
- Take user-level requirements and expand them to cover technical requirements and non-functional requirements
- Deliver detailed test plans, strategies, checklists and results
- Knowledge of different test methods
- Ability to work out of your comfort zone
- Willingness to learn new techniques and teach them
- Must be legally authorised to work in the UK
- Able to manage with specialist external testing contractors (eg compatibility testing)
Nice to haves
- Performance testing experience
- Working in both Unix and Windows environments
- Experience with Github
- Experience of Agile Methods
- Devops experience
