Job Description

As a Senior Marketing Manager you will support the development and growth of The Telegraph’s subscription business. Working with the Editorial and Subscriptions teams alongside the Head of Marketing, you will devise and implement a marketing strategy that supports editorial initiatives with the goal of building audiences, driving engagement, registrations and ultimately subscription acquisitions across our print and digital products. The role will be responsible for day to day management of subscription acquisition targets, and managing a team to develop and implement campaigns across paid, owned and earned channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Head of Marketing to deliver a marketing strategy across the year to achieve agreed subscription goals.
  • Responsibility for delivering against weekly subscription acquisition targets and KPIs across marketing channels.
  • Supporting forecasting amp; budgeting of subscription performance to achieve company goals.
  • Leading a team to oversee the implementation of marketing campaigns across paid owned and earned channels.
  • Working closely with the Head of Paid Marketing to manage the paid marketing strategy. Briefing campaigns, objectives and budget and working with paid marketing agencies.
  • Line management of a small team, working closely with them to ensure core team KPIs are reached. Nurturing their growth and career development within the organisation.
  • Responsibility for delivering the best end to end acquisition journey, and ensuring that messaging and experience for different audiences is consistent across channels and aligned with wider company goals.
  • Constantly interrogating marketing performance and initiating test and learn strategies to improve effectiveness across offers, audiences and channels.
  • Collaborating with insight and analysis teams to ensure marketing campaigns are tracked against weekly targets and KPIs. Briefing in deep dive analysis to optimise, expand and evolve campaigns.
  • Working closely with the subscription engagement amp; retention team on aligning strategies across the customer lifecycle.
  • Working with internal creative teams to deliver campaigns that effectively communicate our subscription proposition and promote our journalism. Briefing the creative strategy across digital and print, ensuring marketing assets are produced on time and to a best in market standard, aligned to the brand.
  • Presenting plans to senior editorial and subscription stakeholders for approval and once approved, ensuring plans are executed on time and within budget.
  • Ensuring the team’s marketing material is thoroughly checked and always of the expected quality

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in marketing for a subscriptions business, with a proven track record of delivering a successful marketing strategy for a B2C organisation.
  • Experience delivering weekly subscription acquisition targets and KPIs.
  • Proven experience in leading a small team to oversee implementation of marketing campaigns across channels.
  • Experience forecasting amp; budgeting subscription performance preferable.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of full marketing mix.
  • Ability to analyse campaigns and make recommendations based on data and insight.
  • Experience initiating test and learn strategies to improve strategy effectiveness.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and external partners and agencies.
  • Experience working with a design team either internally or externally.
  • Previous experience working in a news organisation or with editorial teams would be desirable.
