Job Description

Senior Development Engineer required for sustainment, development and optimisation and maintenance of all existing commercialised implant amp; instrumentation for Corin Group products in relation to the design specification.

The key responsibilities of a Senior Development Engineer includes:

  • Independently create and set the standards for ‘state of the art’ medical device Design History and Risk Management files for Corin’s commercialised implants and instruments with minimal supervision.
  • Identify, lead, and implement continuous improvement projects of Corin’s products and processes in response to inputs such as market feedback and to support lean manufacturing and quality targets.
  • Coach and develop junior members of the team and independently create and maintain design and product specification documents including; 3D CAD Models, 2D product drawings, process routes, inspection plans and bill of materials.
  • Ensure changes to products and processes are managed effectively considering impact on patient safety and device performance through the engineering change control process.
  • Lead validation and verification activities ensuring technical and safety aspects are considered appropriately. e.g., usability, design engineering calculations, tolerance stack analysis, FEA
  • Support regulatory submissions and audit requirements from a design perspective.
  • Anticipate and respond to quality and manufacturing KPI’s to identify and implement improvements to existing products and processes.
  • Provide design and product specification support to Corin departments, sub-contractors and customers.
  • Proactively lead and participate in cross functional project teams as part of CAPA, continuous improvement and optimisation projects.
  • Provide guidance, produce and update test protocols and reports to support verification and validation of implants and instruments
  • Operate within Corin quality system to produce and improve procedures amp; work instructions and delivering associated training
  • Take responsibility of team processes and lead their improvements
  • Maintain appropriate clinical and technology orthopaedic knowledge
  • Provide biomechanical expertise applied to orthopaedic implantable and reusable devices
  • Adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) requirements in line with Corin’s ISO13485 QMS amp; Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) FDA21 CFR Part 820
  • Ensure that process amp; timeline requirements for Corrective amp; Preventive Actions (CAPA) are met in accordance with Corin’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and in support of Corin’s Global Objectives for CAPA

Requirements

The ideal Senior Development Engineer will have the following experience:

  • Ideally a BEng or BSc in a relevant subject such as Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Product Design or demonstrate a similar level of education or experience with relevant industry experience in Ramp;D, Product Development or Research industry occupation
  • A deep understanding of the orthopaedic field
  • Technically competent in analysing and making engineering decisions based on mechanical or bioengineering principles
  • The ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • A high level of computer literacy including the use of CAD. Experience with Siemens NX and/or Solidedge and TeamCenter would be an advantage
  • Excellent organisational and planning ability for self and others where required
  • Have excellent technical communication skills to communicate basic plans and technical information to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • High level of accountability and ownership for own work, collaboration with others and end program delivery
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and inspection methodology.
  • Knowledge or CAPA process and associated problem-solving techniques.
