Our site in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, has over 200 people working together to produce top quality products for clients across the UK and beyond. Due to our ongoing ambitious growth plans, we are looking to recruit an Apprentice Purchasing Assistant, who can support our Purchasing team.

Purpose:
Entry Level into Purchasing

Scope:

Reporting into Procurement, the role will be an integral part of purchasing team

Gathering and sharing appropriate information and ensuring targets are met and procedures are followed at all times

Supporting the Procurement team to ensure this function can continuously improve and add value to the organisation

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ordering raw materials (using MRP report to flag new demand). Consolidate demand where possible using info in memos for price breaks
  • Confirming orders - Check order acknowledgments for qty/*price/date prior to confirming (add date of latest arriving item on PO to the Date Header)
  • Booking in deliveries (raw materials, and both full service/free issue componentry). Check due dates against system prior to offering a delivery slot (helps to regulate deliveries into the warehouse and aids our Accounts department with invoicing)
  • Monitoring stock levels and live orders make increases/reductions/date amends to existing supplier orders where possible (this may occur if additional customer POs have been received, or existing orders are reduced, cancelled or pushed out)
  • Liaising with Account Managers (Sales), Customer Service Managers and Planning Team to ensure any material delays are communicated in a timely manner. This is so the Customer Service team can advise their customers of any potential timescale changes to the production of their orders and move out work orders to fall in line with manufacturing schedule
  • Checking Works Orders by cross referencing all material requirements using the Sage Manufacturing System to ensure sufficient materials are available or ordered to cover the specific Work Order requirements to the dates specified
  • Housekeeping of codes and exhausting earlier iterations
  • Reviewing due dates of all materials relating to a specific order for potential production improvements
  • Purchasing of production sundries

*Flag any price increases to Procurement Manager. If approved, update against product code and make relevant notes in the memo for future reference
