The Opportunity

We are looking for a new Principal Game Designer to join our Rebellion Design team on working on a new IP. As a highly experienced member of the Design team, your role is to deliver game design documents and prototype specifications to the highest possible quality and support the Design team as required. Your focus will be using your expertise and experience to deliver high quality design documentation, maintain and encourage a high standard of game design within the Design team and to assist and support the Lead Designer.

Responsibilities

  • Create high quality detailed game design documents and prototype specifications which can be used throughout the production process
  • Regularly play the levels in production and proactively give feedback to other members of the team on their work
  • Pre-emptively identify and raise any upcoming issues on behalf of the team to Lead during production, and seek feedback and confirm direction of work
  • Work with multiple teams to drive the vision for these new production concepts and methods, and support the pipelines and Designer’s workflow
  • Collaborate with Level Designers and Programmers to ensure prototype features can produce intended results
  • Communicate and collaborate with any key stakeholders involved in the delivery of a piece of work
  • Author specs for improvements and new features and create guides and tutorials to assist with training and reference materials
  • Investigate and provide feedback on our pipelines from a Designer perspective and provide feedback to Lead Designer and proactively give feedback to other members of the team

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of creating game design documents and prototype specifications
  • Expert knowledge of the video game development process, including working in a timely / time-bound manner, and prototyping/iterating appropriately within that restriction
  • Expert knowledge of production pipelines
  • Proactively ensure the game design serves the audience of the game
  • Able to focus and mentor individuals and teams to achieve a specific outcome to drive performance and solve problems creatively
  • Able to apply an understanding of the games industry to improve effectiveness of teams and projects
