The role

3-6 month paid Internship based in Cambridge at the Nu Quantum HQ.

Investigation of single photon emitters in hBN using confocal microscopy

Requirements

Qualifications, skills, and experience

  • Knowledge in solid-state physics and quantum optics
  • Hands on experience on optics alignment, and working with lasers, mirrors and optical fibres etc
  • Any prior experience in setting up and optimising a fluorescence confocal microscope would be desirable
  • Any prior experience in characterising solid-state emitters e.g. quantum dots, colour centre in diamond, or optical defects in 2D materials would be desirable
  • Instrumentation and data analysis with Python or Matlab desirable
  • Pro-active and natural problem solver with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
