We are looking for an individual to drive the Net Zero strategy within MMT Digital and the wider MSQ group. In 2020 MSQ became one of the first global digital marketing groups to become carbon negative, with all companies accurately measuring and reporting on their carbon footprint and putting strategies in place to reduce them further, whilst offsetting far more than they produce. We have reduction strategies in place to half emissions per head by 2024 and Science Based Targets in place for 2030.
Demonstrating this requires models to be regularly updated to enable us to report internally and externally about our progress as well as being able to report to new and existing clients about the impact of our work together.
Also key is the research, rollout and promotion of a range of staff schemes (e.g. green transport and home renewable energy schemes) across the group.
We do this by:
Supporting the drive to become a low carbon company
- Supporting MSQ companies to meet the defined annual targets for the reduction of their carbon footprint and ensuring that there are key activities in place to help achieve these (in line with the defined strategies).
- Supporting MSQ companies in carbon reduction activities including (but not limited to):
- Working with landlords / MSQ central team to switch to renewable energy suppliers
- Working with the MSQ Net Zero Council to promote the existing staff schemes
- Researching and supporting in the rollout of new staff schemes
- Working with key people at MSQ companies to review and switch to more renewable suppliers for all goods and services.
- Working with MSQ companies to review how to reduce electricity usage (e.g. LED lighting etc)
- Installation of electric vehicle charging points for offices with car parks
Supporting the modelling and tracking of MSQ agency carbon footprints
- Liaising with the MSQ teams to update all company carbon footprint models on an annual basis.
- Supporting in the creation of branded company dashboards for all MSQ companies
- Carrying out official MSQ offsetting and tree planting (via the Ecologi platform)
- Creating the quarterly MSQ dashboard.
- Providing data and information to support in the creation of PR / comms around progress to reduce footprint (for MSQ and individual companies).
- Supporting MSQ agencies in the creation sustainability reports for key clients
- Supporting new business and existing account teams in the creation of sustainability / impact dashboards when quoting for new work.
- Working with MSQ companies to send out staff surveys (annual and / or when relevant to the update of the company footprint) to enable more accurate modelling of their footprint.
Supporting other schemes in this area
- Supporting HR and finance teams in the management of the MSQ People staff salary sacrifice scheme for carbon offsetting.
- For MSQ companies who have an internal capability / offering for clients around building lower carbon digital platforms, working with these teams to support MSQ level dashboards, reporting and PR on the impact of this work.
- Being the driving force within the Net Zero Council and communicating / updating regularly to keep the group engaged with all activity.
- Keeping up to speed with news around the drive to a Net Zero economy in order to bring forward new ideas and initiatives in this area.
What you’ll bring
In order to flourish in this role, you’ll need the following:
- A passion for helping a global organisation become a leader in their sector for sustainability (specifically tackling climate change)
- A person who can work independently when required and operate within high level guidance principles
- Comfortable working with data and Excel spreadsheets
- Excellent cultural fit within MMT and MSQ.
- A strong communicator in order to be able to work with and support a broad range of people across the MSQ partner agencies.
