We’re seeking a Target Analyst to contribute to our mission to develop better medicines, faster, to people around the world. The journey towards a new therapy often begins with a target and you will have the opportunity to identify new drug targets with your analyses of biological data. As a Target Analyst in the Target Analysis Team, you will play an integral role in identifying new drug targets and work collaboratively with data scientists and molecular biologists in supporting projects in multiple therapeutic areas. Using your bioinformatics skills, biological knowledge and disease area expertise, you will generate novel insights into disease biology in oncology, immunology, neurology and virology.
- Create and maintain portfolios of validated and emerging commercially attractive drug targets in multiple therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology, neurology, rare diseases and infectious diseases.
- Support our business development organisation through assessment of target opportunities.
- Analyse, transform and integrate large amounts of structured data (e.g. omics and patient derived data) including with the use of knowledge graphs.
- Evaluate outcomes and present results with project teams.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of biologists, data scientists, machine learning experts and disease area strategists, and a wider team of molecular biologists, structural biologists, molecular pharmacologists and medicinal chemists to drive target analysis.
- Stay up-to-date with novel bioinformatics and AI methodologies, tools and applications.
Requirements
- PhD in life sciences related disciplines, bioinformatics or data science with demonstrable experience in collecting, mining and visualising complex biological data.
- Biological domain knowledge relevant to human diseases, for instance research experience in oncology.
- Knowledge of common bioinformatics databases, resources and tools.
- Scripting skills in R or python.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and balance competing demands.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and co-operative as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- A positive "can-do" and result oriented attitude, with openness to new ideas and the ability to work flexibly in a highly dynamic environment.
