The Ramp;D Team

To achieve our mission, we are assembling a world-class Ramp;D team consisting of Engineers and Designers capable of pushing the limits of what is possible. You will report directly to our Head of Engineering, and be responsible for managing our Mechanical Engineering team. You will also be working alongside our co-founder and CTO Dmitro and be in close touch with our Marketing, Manufacturing and Service departments for a clear view of how your innovations impact our customers and company success.

The Role

We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Ramp;D team.

Your time will be split between CAD detailed design and hands-on prototype building and validation. As we grow you will ultimately gain greater responsibility and exposure to inter-departmental development projects. You will become an expert in eBike design and manufacturing in an exciting and rapidly growing industry.

This role will give you the opportunity to own your own role while being guided by our senior team. A generalist skill set is key to success.

Responsibilities include

  • Full product development lifecycle of Mechanical Design, from spec to architecture, detailed design, BOM, DFM, RFQ, tooling, mass production in our overseas factory and continuous technical support
  • Growing, managing and leading the Mechanical Engineering team
  • Both hands-on detailed design and management of external development contractors amp; companies
  • Development, and upkeep of our Electro-mechanical workshop facility which includes 3D printers, milling machines and small tools
  • Maintaining best practices for data management and data release to suppliers
  • Communication with external suppliers during the DVT, EVT, PVT phases

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 6+ years engineering experience at an company or consultancy that designs and ships hardware products.
  • 4+ years Industry experience using Solidworks with best practise skills and ability to work top-down and bottom-up
  • Experience in line-management of an Mechanical Engineering team
  • Experience in Offshore Volume Manufacturing, preferably Asia
  • Excellent hands-on workshop prototyping experience to be able to rapidly turn around valuable validation prototypes.
  • Wide knowledge of a range of electrical and mechanical manufacturing processes including Plastic Injection Moulding, Sheet Metal Forming, PCBA
  • Experience preparing RFQ packages amp; technical drawings
  • Experience with mechanical analysis based in the SW package or similar
  • Proven ability to support your decisions through testing and data
  • An excellent problem-solving mindset

Nice to have:

  • Experience working on consumer electronics hardware products
  • Experience working on bicycle frame design
