Acquired by MSQ in 2020, MMT Digital has been rated the UK’s most recommended digital partner by clients for the last seven years (The Drum Recommends) and picked up an impressive six awards in 2020.As a Senior Front End Engineer at MMT Digital, you’ll be driving the development of projects, with a focus on JavaScript and ensuring a high level of technical quality in the delivery of trusted solutions to a diverse range of clients.

The Opportunity

You’ll have the opportunity to support and mentor engineers to ensure best practices and governance are applied throughout development. As part of your role, you’ll perform code reviews/pull requests with the team and work with Technical Architects and Product Owners to define the technical strategy and vision for the projects you are working on. Other things you could be doing include helping product owners refine user stories on agile projects; liaising with UX teams to ensure clean, creative UX is provided to teams; inputting towards the best practices, community and vision of the wider Engineering team at MMT.

What we are seeking

In order to flourish in this role, you’ll need the following:

  • Considerable commercial experience as a Front End Engineer
  • Proficient in working with vanilla JavaScript, over frontend frameworks
  • Hands-on experience working with content management systems
  • Be fluent in HTML,CSS, and related frameworks such as SASS or Styled Components
  • Good knowledge of responsive web design
  • Experience with writing unit tests using frameworks like Jest
  • Experience with Git or other source control systems
  • Hands-on experience with relevant CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Jenkins) Knowledge of build tools such as Webpack, Rollup, Parcel etc
  • Excellent people skills; demonstrably team- and client-focused
  • Experience of working in an agile environment
  • Knowledge of building sites that meet WCAG accessibility standards

It would also be great (but not essential) if you have:

  • Experience of leading Development teams and/or of line management of others
  • Experience working hands-on with AWS, Azure or similar cloud infrastructure
  • Knowledge of component libraries such as Storybook or Styleguidist
  • Exposure to some back-end technologies (.NET, Java, Node, PHP, Go)
  • Demonstrable experience of Open Source contributions made to the industry
  • Commercial experience of working in an agency setting
