Job Description

We’re Craft Gin Club - a TOP 10 UK startup and the biggest drinks subscription in the country.

Ever since our founders pitched successfully on Dragons’ Den, we’ve been hard at work, scouting the country - and the globe! - to find the world's finest small-batch gins. Every month, we send thousands of gin lovers across the country a surprise box packed with craft gin, mixers, foodie treats and our club mag.

Now in our eighth year, Craft Gin Club has a membership of over 100,000 people in the UK. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Technology Operations Manager to join our team and help underpin the future successes of Craft Gin Club in order to continue bringing our members a superb experience.

Formed in 2020, the Digital, Data and Technology function within Craft Gin Club is still relatively new, providing key technology services to all areas of the business. As the business has grown in customers and ambition, the number of interoperable systems that support both BAU and change initiatives also continues to grow.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our DDT team to manage the day-to-day operations of the technology provision within Craft Gin Club. Reporting to the Head of DDT this role will support our teams in their success, managing our growing architecture and cost base, ensuring we are both compliant and secure in our systems, and supporting the rest of the DDT team in achieving our ambitious programme of change in 2023 and beyond.

Key accountabilities

  1. Incident amp; Problem Management

Supporting our team of 60+ to be successful is the primary aim of this role. Working within agreed internal SLAs and with our underpinning service providers, you will work quickly to resolve incidents of service disruption, whilst identifying and working to resolve root cause problems. You will escalate incidents and problems to underpin service providers where necessary and track such escalations to a successful and timely resolution.

  1. Asset Management

You’ll manage the company’s technology assets, ensuring equipment is working, serviceable, secure and licensed properly. Working with the HR team, you’ll provision new equipment and accounts for staff and decommission assets when a member of staff leaves the business. You’ll regularly review system users to ensure we are not overspending. You’ll also ensure all members of staff have the right level of hardware and software assets to do their job whilst carefully managing the cost of technology provision.

  1. Contract Reviews

Craft Gin Club has a cloud-first strategy which has been very successful, resulting in an array of licenses and subscription services being used across the business. You will be responsible for leading the review of these contracts, ensuring that the company is gaining the best value from these services.

  1. Project Management

As a manager with responsibility for operational services, we will expect you to run change projects that are infrastructure focussed. Either as part of an independent project or as a workstream as part of a larger project, you’ll be expected to plan and execute projects on time, on budget and with a high level of end-product quality.

5. Deputisation and Support

The Head of DDT has been tasked with a very ambitious growth plan and a material amount of their time will continue to be focused on growth. The Technology Manager will support the Head of DDT by taking on and covering a number of the HoDDT’s day-to-day tasks.
This role will also act as an important cover when the HoDDT is out of the office.

6. Documentation and Governance

In addition to being involved in the design and implementation of software, the Technology Operations Manager will help ensure that technology processes are documented and adhered to, and will support the HoDDT in ensuring that CGC is compliant with all industry regs.
