We are remote-first but we do have offices in London and Hong Kong for those who wish to use them, as well as fully remote employees across 10 different countries. What’s the opportunity?
The Mid Backend Engineer will be responsible for building backend systems to provide data to the frontend, handle ETL processes and write code to communicate with API's. This role is highly collaborative and will be deeply embedded within the wider work of BridgeU. As a Mid Backend Engineer, you will also work heavily with experienced Product Managers, Designers and Data Scientists to help shape the future of our product.
We are looking for people with a natural willingness to learn new technologies and who are keen to share their knowledge with others. Our tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, Elm, Vue.JS and PostgreSQL.
What you’ll be doing:
- Contribute actively to the development of new features for our product, as well as to the ongoing maintenance and improvements needed.
- Participate in backend focused technical and architectural discussions.
- Collaborate with people from the wider product team to assess the feasibility of new ideas and ensure the delivery of features.
- Help and work with other members of your team to quickly delivery value.
- Communicate and propose technical solutions to your team amp; manager.
Requirements
- Considerable experience with Ruby on Rails or similar Ruby frameworks .
- Considerable experience with SQL.
- Experience in working in teams with a high level of collaboration.
- Ability to work with designers and product managers to move forward the best user experience for the web and mobile.
- Strong communication skills, team work and a seek to improve mentality.
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker and AWS services will be an advantage.
- Experience with functional programming in front-end frameworks (Elm, reacts, etc) will be an advantage.
