The Opportunity

UBDS is in an exciting phase of growth and are looking for leaders to join the team to play a key role in the growth, direction and strategy of the practice and service. The role is accountable to the Chief Delivery Officer, reporting directly to the Head of P3M, and forms part of the P3M Senior Leadership Team.

The Responsibilities

• Being a ‘figure head’ for UBDS’ Delivery Practice, clearly communicating programme / portfolio goals and success criteria
• Direct and manage programme development and client engagements from beginning to end; establishing clear priorities and maintaining focus on the critical path and milestone achievement and acceptance
• Define delivery and project outcomes, success criteria, scope, deliverables, and plans that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders;
• Establishing effective and proportionate governance and controls.
• Ensuring that a clear and objective assessment of engagement performance is regularly, clearly, and accurately reported
• Establishing strong working relationships across the business: Executive Director Practices, Practice Principals, and Commercial Principals, plus Finance leads and colleagues in other lead client facing roles.
• Promoting and embedding defined commercial and technical change management processes and controls
• Applying effective team and people management skills, to build, engage, and optimise performant cross-functional teams.
• Coaching, guiding, nurturing, and directing senior delivery managers and delivery managers; engaging and guiding PMO leads
• High level of competence to deliver complex engagements with a successful track record of P3M delivery
• 8+ years’ experience in successfully delivering complex projects / programmes in a commercial environment (both fixed price and Tamp;M engagements)
• Successful delivery of programmes with budgetary responsibilities of 5M+ and managing teams up to 50 in a matrixed environment
• Proven experience of de facto project management methodologies and tools, including Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, PRINCE2 and MSP. Ideally, with qualifications and certifications in P3M methodologies.
• Experience with implementing complex Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or Google), Networking, Infrastructure End User computing (Microsoft 365), Data Intelligence and/or Security projects.
• Able to demonstrate a depth and breadth of commercial, financial and risk management competencies
• Commercial skills in understanding the contract and communicating this across the delivery team and managing any change in scope
• Strong communication and negotiation skills; and experience of building strong client relationships up to C-Suite level
• Proven experience of building and managing relationships and engagements with third parties;
• Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change across technology and business teams;
• Outstanding problem-solving skills and demonstrable experience of introducing innovation and efficiency in the delivery of client engagements
