Job Description

TotallyMoney is officially one of the UK’s best mid-sized companies to work for 6th best in finance, 9th best in London and we’re on a mission to help everybody move their finances forward. We’ve built an app that gives people the tools and information to understand their credit data, pay off debts and move closer to their financial goals.

At TotallyMoney, we believe in maximum autonomy with maximum alignment, and a positive, bottom-up culture. We put work-life balance, employee wellbeing and interpersonal connections at the heart of our culture, and during 2021 we transitioned to hybrid ways of working, giving us the freedom to work wherever suits us best from home, the office, or even abroad.

The Opportunity

You don’t see an opportunity like this very often! This role offers a unique opportunity; our people are already highly engaged and consistently tell us they value our culture. We have strong ambitions to be the best place to work and want to strengthen our foundations and invest in new areas of work to further strengthen employee engagement and culture.

Working closely with our CEO, COO and wider Management Team (MT), you’ll manage our People amp; Culture (Pamp;C) operations and provide support, guidance and challenge across the full spectrum of all things People to help us achieve our goal of being the best place to work whilst evolving our culture in this (not so) new world of hybrid working.

This is an interim opportunity with a 6 month initial contract and the opportunity to progress to a permanent role. The focus in the short term will be primarily operational, but there will be the opportunity for more strategic and project based work over time. The role holder will be involved in the recruitment, onboarding and management of an additional team member.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintain People operations that support our business objectives and goal of being the best place to work.
  • Partner with the CEO, COO and Management Team to provide a People perspective on our business plan and objectives, working collaboratively to help the business scale, support performance and increase efficiency.
  • Manage talent attraction and retention, ensuring that hiring and growth are managed effectively and that people receive the learning and skills they need to thrive here at TM.
  • Drive employee engagement, leading the design and delivery of discrete initiatives and projects using data and wider feedback to strengthen our culture.
  • Ensure that our People infrastructure is set-up and optimised to enable us to grow and scale effectively, spanning policy, process and systems.
  • Manage complicated ER matters including performance management, change management, grievances and disciplinaries, dealing with issues on an informal basis initially.
  • Use data, metrics and internal/external insights to provide relevant reporting, guide business decision making and ensuring our People offer remains competitive.
  • Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Oversee payroll processes, performance reviews and employee requests/ changes across the business
  • Drive an effective learning and development agenda that impacts the employees and the business
  • Direct reports: People amp; Culture Manager (to be placed).

What we’re looking for:

You’re a People person who loves to create great employee experiences and is passionate about helping make TotallyMoney the best place to work

You’ll have led multiple people projects from start to finish

You’ll know how to deliver against business and commercial objectives through people solutions and programmes

Experience of developing and implementing People infrastructure (policy, process and systems)

Experience of leading and developing a (small) People team

A balance between compassion and commercial acumen doing right by our people, culture and the business

A brilliant communicator, be that in person or in writing, adapting to a range of audiences

The ability to influence and appropriately challenge senior leaders

Can spot challenges/opportunities and apply a creative approach to problem solving

You’re collaborative, flexible and willing to ‘roll your sleeves up’
