Equal Education Partners is a social enterprise working to improve educational outcomes in Wales amp; England. This involves:

  • Bolstering talent attraction amp; retention, through recruitment, ethical employment and professional learning initiatives;
  • Tackling educational disparities, through impactful tutoring for disadvantaged learners;
  • Widening access to higher education, working with Wales' flagship government-backed Seren programme; and
  • Improving STEM education, working with world leaders at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • Delivering high quality education marketing campaigns on behalf of the government and universities

Over the past two years, we've grown our internal headcount threefold and quadrupled revenue. We also employ over 200 education professionals (including teachers, tutors and learning designers). We're on an exciting growth journey and we're expanding our senior team to ensure we reach our full potential.

The role: Managing Director, Marketing

We are looking for a Managing Director to oversee, actively lead and grow Equal Education Partners' marketing business. This role is now available due to the growth of our marketing business and our current MD's transition into the CEO role.

The ideal candidate will be both a strategist and a hands-on leader able to grow the marketing business substantially while contributing meaningfully to EEP's significant growth trajectory (4X revenue since early 2020).

Overview of responsibilities

1. Business leadership amp; growth:

  • Working with the CEO and Group Executive Director to develop and update the two year and 3-5 year business plans for EEP's marketing business
  • Implementing the EEP marketing business plan as agreed with the CEO amp; Group Executive Director
  • Leading all aspects of growing EEP's marketing business
  • Identifying, developing and securing new business amp; growth opportunities through relationship building, networking, business development, tendering and partnership formation
2. Delivery:
  • Managing relationships with all key clients and partners of EEP's marketing business
  • Overseeing the delivery of client work to exacting standards
  • Creating a distinct brand for EEP's marketing business
  • Devising and implementing successful marketing strategies for each of EEP's subsidiary companies

2. Team management:

  • Directing and managing EEP's marketing team
  • Growing the team in line with the achievement of business milestones while ensuring the growth of profitability at each stage
  • Working with the CEO, Group ED, and Business amp; People Manager to agree and gain support with meeting the business's hiring needs
  • Identifying talent and recruiting for the team to manage employees' workloads, ensure sufficient capacity for successfully delivering projects and meeting business growth objectives, and ensuring ample capacity/capability to take on additional projects
  • Delegating responsibilities and actively supervising amp; supporting colleagues
  • Adopting a hands on approach to actively supporting team members to grow
  • Developing and further defining three distinct branches/divisions within EEP marketing (Creative, Campaigns amp; Digital)
  • Providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
  • Coaching, mentoring and elevating others to succeed
  • Managing any performance matters within the marketing business
  • Analysing any problematic situations and providing solutions to ensure success for the company and our stakeholders

3. Advocacy amp; representation:

  • Keeping up to date with marketing amp; education sector developments in order to ensure that our work remains in line with, responsive to and informed by current and emerging priorities
  • Acting as a representative of the company in ways that continually strengthen its profile and representing EEP's marketing business at meetings with senior stakeholders
4. Business performance, management amp; marketing:
  • Driving the subsidiary company’s financial performance
  • Working closely with the EEP Finance Director and the Business amp; People Manager on all aspects of EEP Marketing financial performance, business management amp; people strategy

5. Contributing to the group:

  • Ensuring the delivery of marketing outputs for other EEP businesses including Recruitment, Tutoring amp; Partnerships.
  • Contributing at a group level where opportunities for collaboration are possible, including contact sharing and making introductions to support the objectives of the EEP Group
