What will your role look like?
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer with experience of back-end Web development in a Cloud environment. You’ll have experience of working on diverse projects using web and hybrid applications, and all manner of web development technologies and development tools. This role will be integral in the support and development of platforms.
As one of our Senior Software Engineers, you will:
- Work as part of a team on a large-scale application that supports services in use by major global media companies
- Be responsible for the full development lifecycle, from design and prototype through development, testing, and deployment
- Deliver to rapid timescales in a dynamic environment
- Work effectively with your colleagues to estimate and deliver issues, working within teams that use Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Demonstrate drive and enthusiasm, innovating, working with minimal direction, meeting requirements, and delivering to a high standard
- Lead with a strong commercial development mindset in web development, familiarity with distributed systems, keen mathematical skills, and enthusiasm for overcoming technical challenges
- Work across several disciplines, including architecture, web-development software engineering, and continuous integration/delivery
- Understand RESTful APIs, using them and creating them. You’ll be able to architect a Cloud-based environment’s autoscaling and at-edge compute features.
Requirements
You will be set up for success as one of our Senior Software Engineers, if you have:
- BEng / MEng / BSc / MSc in relevant subject or equivalent experience
- Strong commercial software development experience, including object oriented concepts
- Experience in software development for the web on the backend primarily with NodeJS and any experience with other languages such as PHP, and Python
- Experience architecting and delivering solutions in Cloud Based environments, ideally AWS
- Experience with database technologies such as MySQL or Postgres and scaling large datasets
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and best practices, and Continuous Integration/Delivery
- Familiarity with software configuration management (SCM) concepts and version control systems, especially Git
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems, including scripting skills
Nice to haves:
- Experience using AWS services such as Amplify, Cognito, ECS, Lambda, S3
- Experience using Serverless technologies and scaling applications in the cloud
- An understanding of the current content piracy landscape for digital media
- Frontend development experience using React and / or Vue.js
- Jira and Gitlab experience
