Job Description

Want to join us as our new Scientist I/II on a Zero hours contract.

You will be working on a pioneering research project, operating out of a mobile unit laboratory in the areas of Manchester,Liverpool and wider areas of the Northwest. You will be responsible for the daily operation of the mobile unit. Ensuring that it is parked securely between clinics, drive to each specified research site, set up, cleaned and ready to process samples each day. You will liaise with the clinical and research staff in the hospital to accept delivery of patient samples before processing these samples to the standard outlined in the protocol and accurately record the patient samples for packaging and sending to their destination.

Requirements

We are looking for a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory setting (this can include time spent on a wet lab dissertation project during an Undergraduate Degree). Holding a degree in a relevant biological discipline is essential.

You must have experience of using basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and automatic pipettes.

Experience of handling human biological samples is desirable but full training will be given.

Adhere to SOPs, working instructions, risk assessments, protocols and maintain GLP.

Scientist II will be expected to work with QC team to ensure data are legible and filed correctly.

Scientist II will be expected to help with basic report writing.

Scientist II will be expected to help train and oversee scientist I.

You must be able to show previous experience of working in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines and be competent in all Microsoft Office applications.

Our other requirements for this role are that you hold a full and valid driving licence and have suitable transport provisions (public transport is not recommended due to location of the office/units) and be able to travel throughout the UK if required.

Remuneration

12.01 -14.42 ph. depending on experience
