Who Are We?
Connected Places Catapult (CPC) is the UK’s innovation accelerator for cities, transport, and places. We provide impartial ‘innovation as a service’ for public bodies, businesses, and infrastructure providers to catalyse step-change improvements in the way people live, work and travel. We connect businesses and public sector leaders to cutting-edge research to spark innovation and grow new markets.
We are creating a new team of Technical Programme Managers to manage our flagship programmes and work with others across the business to unlock innovations that foster place prosperity.
Purpose of the role
The Technical Programme Manager will combine project and programme management with experience of leading local government regeneration or economic renewal projects to shape the effective delivery of our Place Leadership portfolio. This is a new role that will work with functions across the organisation, particularly colleagues leading ecosystem innovation, project delivery, sales and bid development.
The role will provide dedicated delivery leadership of our Innovate UK programme for Place Leadership, including project management of our primary strategic Place Leadership project, ensuring it delivers to cost, time, quality and reporting requirements. The postholder will draw on the outputs and learnings from this project to support the Place Leadership Ecosystem Director to scope future projects. They will additionally provide Place Leadership sector programme management oversight across all relevant projects, maintaining a consolidated programme plan across the portfolio to identify efficiencies, opportunities and synergies. They will also support effective project planning through bid development.
The successful applicant will have deep knowledge in the design of activities to support local place prosperity through innovation. As the role requires some project and programme management, the successful applicant will have transferrable skills in project or programme management.
