Chatham House’s work on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) focuses on the latest political, economic and security developments in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen, as well as trends in the Gulf states, Iran, and North African countries. The MENA programme is seeking a full-time programme assistant to support all aspects of project administration and delivery across our full portfolio of work.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Support content management for the programme’s microsite, social media, and newsletters
- Support the creation of digital content including audio-visual, multimedia, and written content
- Assist with the development and end-to-end organisation of meetings, roundtables, workshops, panel discussions, and conferences
- Knowledge share by collaborating with other Assistants, Coordinators and Interns across the Institute
People
- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues and external partners, working collaboratively with others in creating a positive working culture
- Provide on-the-day support, during events, to the team and external participants, including international travel where required
Delivery
- Prepare agendas, minutes, and reports for events
- Provide research support on thematic and country specific topics using both primary and secondary sources
- Compile and analyse datasets, literature reviews, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions
- Support project publications including footnotes and referencing, and presenting data in tables and figures
- Act as the first point of contact for external queries to the programme via the Chatham House website
- Maintain programme’s webpage and ensure expert profiles and project pages are up-to-date
- Support the management of our contact lists and CRM
- Assist with updating budgets, processing invoices, maintaining existing financial systems and project files
- Assist with accurate record-keeping and maintenance of programme files and folders
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
- An interest in international relations, specifically in the MENA region;
- Ability to prioritize, juggle different projects and to work quickly and accurately under pressure
- Administrative and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail;
- Financial literacy;
- A strong communicator with good written and oral skills and an ability to build positive relationships;
- Ability to work as part of team and with individuals at all levels displaying tact, sensitivity and diplomacy;
- Experience using digital communications platforms and Microsoft Office products;
- Problem-solving skills, initiative, and drive.
Desirable skills and experience- Experience working in government, non-profit or international organization sector
- Research project experience
- Experience organizing in-person and online events
- Fluency in classical Arabic
