Job Description

At Unboxed, design is a team sport

We are a London based digital service design and development agency with 18 years of experience in creating great digital services in both the public and private sector. Our delivery approach is strongly based on Agile principles. We work in multidisciplinary teams, collaborating all the way from initial user research and customer engagement through to building fully functioning digital services. We believe in openness, transparency and honest communication, encouraging collaboration and learning from each other.

Digital services we’ve designed and developed include UK Parliament Petitions, SH:24 online sexual health, char.gy electric vehicle charging, and others.

Job description

We’re looking for designers with full end to end experience, a range of product experience with a twist of service design. That means you have experience of working on products, both in the early stages and in live. You’re comfortable doing design work as part of a collaborative build team, as well as being able to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, understand how products fit within a bigger picture of a service or ecosystem. You work collaboratively with the whole team to ensure great outcomes. You’ll also have experience of working on discovery style pieces of work, doing research, and turning insight into tangible design work.

You’re comfortable working closely with your team and client, taking the lead on aspects of projects and working closely with both the team and the clients to deliver together. We don’t have line managers at Unboxed, but you’ll be supported by both directors and the design lead, as well as the wider team to help ensure projects are delivered successfully.

We’re also looking for someone who can mentor and coach other designers on the team, You will add to our ways of working and help shape and grow our design practice.

About the role

We are looking for Designers to work in a hybrid role, but with time in London expected. We are looking for people comfortable working across a range of design disciplines, but with specific expertise in Product and Service Design.

We’re a small design team, but we're growing Unboxed and we want you to contribute to our company culture. We want to hear about your interests beyond design. We want you to help us add to our community leadership, mentor more junior people and increase our diversity.

Our delivery approach is strongly based on Agile principles. We work in multidisciplinary teams, collaborating all the way from initial user research and customer engagement through to building fully functioning digital services. We believe in openness, transparency and honest communication, encouraging collaboration and learning from each other.

We’re committed to further increasing diversity within Unboxed and recognise that not everyone will have had the same opportunity to gain relevant experience. We therefore welcome applications from those who may have felt excluded from such a role in the past, whether due to gender, ethnicity, visible or invisible disability, neurodivergence, education, or family/care commitments.
