Job Description
ADVFN is a long established, but enterprising company in the finance technology sector. We are looking for an experienced full stack PHP developer to help us innovate and improve our offerings to our millions of users.
ADVFN provides comprehensive stock market information to millions of private investors for more than 20 years. Our website and mobile apps cater for the sophisticated investor. It offers real time price information, news feeds, portfolio management, monitor lists and more.
You will be part of an international team of developers working to maintain and improve existing legacy code and implementing new features to our increasing user base. You will also work in implementing financial tools and get the chance to work with the newest innovations in the fintech space. There will be room to grow within the company and you will be able to provide direct feedback to help us improve.
- Work with the design team on creating modern UI using frontend technologies.
- Maintain and improve our PHP codebase. Including porting of legacy code.
- Develop financial tools for our user base.
- Work on various different technologies, including, but not limited to, cryptocurrency, blockchain and data analysis.
- Develop APIs that are used with various clients including mobile apps and desktop applications.
- Work with web socket technology and handling of real-time data.
Requirements
Mandatory
- PHP Experience:
- Minimum 3 years professional experience, or contributions (GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.)
- Understanding of the LAMP stack and MVC pattern.
- Must be able to write core PHP code and understand object-oriented concepts.
- Frontend skills:
- HTML, CSS and JavaScript (including Webpack).
- Be able to convert given designs to HTML templates.
- Able to work with JavaScript applications using web sockets.
- Others:
- Knowledge of relational database systems such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of the Unix command line.
- Experience with Git
Desirable
- Knowledge of other programming languages: Java, Python, C++, etc.
- Ability to choose the right tool for the job.
- Virtualisation and containerisation knowledge (Docker, Vagrant, VirtualBox, etc.)
