Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Collections Strategy to play a key role in managing Starling’s approach to supporting customers in need and developing and implementing our policies for collections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of Starling’s policies for Collections, ensuring Starling customers get the best possible outcomes, and we meet the requirements of regulations
  • Ongoing oversight of the delivery of policies and procedures to meet regulatory standards
  • Engagement with third parties to meet obligations under the Government Backed Lending schemes, including representing Starling on industry forums
  • Development of customer engagement strategies and approach to achieve customer outcomes, reviewing the effectiveness of the current approach
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to understand the risks in the portfolio and forecast the operational impact
  • Champion continuous improvement of SME collections processes and procedures
  • Build familiarity with all key collections activities
  • Ensure policies and procedures adhere to relevant regulation

Requirements

  • A collaborative working style, able to deliver change and lead a team of people
  • Previous collections experience (preferably strategy) and ideally knowledge of SME collections
  • Familiarity with relevant regulation, including CONC 7, the Consumer Credit Act (CCA) and the Lending Standards Board (LSB)
  • Experience of delivering policies and procedures
  • Ability to support the rollout of policies and procedures
  • Ability to influence different stakeholder groups and manage resistance to change
  • Good qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Highly organised, with the ability to deliver to deadlines and manage conflicting priorities within a dynamic environment
